Return Tracker ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application.
Information we collect
Information you provide:
- Account information (email address and password)
- Return data (product names, store names, prices, dates, and notes)
- Profile information (optional display name and profile picture)
- Receipt images (photos of receipts you choose to scan)
Information collected automatically:
- Device information (device type, operating system version)
- Crash reports (you can opt out in Settings)
- Authentication tokens for keeping you logged in
How we use your information
- Provide and maintain the Return Tracker service
- Send you deadline reminder notifications
- Sync your data across devices
- Extract data from receipt images using AI (when you use the scan feature)
- Generate return predictions using AI (when you request predictions)
- Improve our app and fix bugs
AI features and third-party services
Return Tracker offers optional AI-powered features that require sharing certain data with third-party AI services. You control when AI features are used. The app asks for your explicit consent before sending any data to AI services.
Receipt Scanning: When you scan a receipt, your receipt image is sent to Google Gemini AI for processing. Google processes the image to extract product, store, price, and date information. Images are processed in real-time and not stored by the AI provider.
Return Predictions: When you request return predictions, your purchase data (product names, prices, stores, dates) is sent to Groq AI for analysis. Data is processed in real-time and not stored by Groq.
AI Quality Monitoring: We use internal tools to monitor the quality of AI prompts and improve feature accuracy. These tools receive anonymized metadata about AI requests (no personal identifiers, receipt images, or full return details).
You can manage AI feature consent and reset permissions at any time in Settings → Privacy & Security.
Data storage and security
- Your data is stored securely on a trusted cloud platform
- All data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS/TLS)
- We use industry-standard security measures to protect your information
- Your password is hashed and never stored in plain text
Data sharing
We do not sell your personal information, share your data with advertisers, or share your return information with stores or retailers.
We may share data only:
- With service providers who help us operate the app
- With AI service providers when you use optional AI features (Google Gemini AI, Groq AI) as described above
- If required by law or legal process
- To protect our rights or safety
Your rights
You have the right to access your personal data, export your data, delete your account and all associated data, opt out of non-essential notifications, and opt out of crash reports.
To delete your account: Settings → Account → Delete Account.

Children's privacy
Return Tracker is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new policy in the app and updating the "Last Updated" date.
